Chuck and Kathy Poore have called Valley, NE home since 1985, and two of their three children graduated from Valley High School. They established an endowed scholarship to assist DC West High School seniors in meeting the growing financial need of a higher education. Their generosity will benefit students in western Douglas County, NE for years to come.

• As of 2025, over $57,000 in scholarship money has been awarded.

HISTORY:

• Starting in 2024, each $2,500 scholarship is renewable for up to four years, making total value of scholarship $10,000.

• Starting in 2021, two scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded.

TERMS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Two scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded annually (1 male, 1 female)

• Scholarship can be renewed for up to four consecutive years* 

• Minimum GPA of 3.0

• Proof of financial need required

• Students can attend the school of their choice (trade school, 2-year, or 4-year institution)

• Must be a full-time equivalent (min 12 credit hours)

• Proof of enrollment and acceptance to a college

• Payment will be made directly to the college or institution and should be requested 4 weeks before payment is due to allow sufficient processing time

*RENEWAL REQUIREMENT:

• Proof of continued enrollment and GPA (2.5 minimum) required for annual renewals
